The influence of unaccompanied singing group the Watersons on the British folk revival has long been acknowledged as huge. This CD, which collect their cuts from the New Voices compilation along with The Watersons and A Yorkshire Garland (both ), captures a lot of the appeal of Norma, Lal, and Mike Waterson, who, with their cousin John Harrison, comprised the group.

Trey Lotz produced the Krishna “The Rooster Song” label reads “In album ‘The Roosters Live At The Appollo'” but I don’t believe this LP was ever released. If it was recorded, I’d love to hear it. The Roosters have another 45 which I suspect came earlier, “I Wanna Do It” on Buddha Records. with a Hamilton College address.

The Watersons English singers of traditional and contemporary songs, most sung a capella. (Martin Carthy has recorded with Waterson:Carthy, Steeleye Span, the Albion Band, Brass Monkey and solo) (Norma Waterson (b ) has also recorded with Waterson:Carthy and solo) (Norma Waterson, Mike Waterson and Martin Carthy have recorded with Blue Murder).

This song is a version of ‘All the Little Chickens in the Garden’, a lovely song collected in the Cumbria region and the singing of the Waterson family. Further research and information from Jeff Warner (USA) shows it to have been penned by African-American, James A. Bland in

The Watersons sang I'Anson's Racehorse in on their album A Yorkshire Garland. Like most of the tracks from this LP, it was re-released in on the CD Early Days. A.L. Lloyd commented in the original album's sleeve notes.
