  1. The influence of unaccompanied singing group the Watersons on the British folk revival has long been acknowledged as huge. This CD, which collect their cuts from the New Voices compilation along with The Watersons and A Yorkshire Garland (both ), captures a lot of the appeal of Norma, Lal, and Mike Waterson, who, with their cousin John Harrison, comprised the group.
  2. Trey Lotz produced the Krishna “The Rooster Song” label reads “In album ‘The Roosters Live At The Appollo'” but I don’t believe this LP was ever released. If it was recorded, I’d love to hear it. The Roosters have another 45 which I suspect came earlier, “I Wanna Do It” on Buddha Records. with a Hamilton College address.
  3. The Watersons English singers of traditional and contemporary songs, most sung a capella. (Martin Carthy has recorded with Waterson:Carthy, Steeleye Span, the Albion Band, Brass Monkey and solo) (Norma Waterson (b ) has also recorded with Waterson:Carthy and solo) (Norma Waterson, Mike Waterson and Martin Carthy have recorded with Blue Murder).
  4. This song is a version of ‘All the Little Chickens in the Garden’, a lovely song collected in the Cumbria region and the singing of the Waterson family. Further research and information from Jeff Warner (USA) shows it to have been penned by African-American, James A. Bland in
  5. "The Watersons come from Yorkshire and they're proud of it. So they thought they would make this, their third LP, a record of Yorkshire songs. But it's more than simply an anthology of local pieces. The songs are too good for that/5(12).
  6. Eliza Carthy & Norma Waterson: Gift, The Gift Band Live on Tour (CD, DVD), Anchor Eliza Carthy and Ben Seal: Through That Sound (My Secret Was Made Known) Martin Carthy (with or w/o Dave Swarbrick): Martin Carthy, Second Album, Byker Hill, No Songs, But Two Came By, Prince Heathen, Round Up, Landfall, This Is.
  7. The four left-over tracks from this LP have been re-released on several CDs: The Pretty Drummer Boy in on the Lal & Norma Waterson CD A True Hearted Girl, and Sorry the Day I Was Married and The Yorkshire Tup in on the CD Mike Waterson, and finally The Morning Looks Charming in on the Watersons' 4CD anthology Mighty River of Song.
  8. The Watersons sang I'Anson's Racehorse in on their album A Yorkshire Garland. Like most of the tracks from this LP, it was re-released in on the CD Early Days. A.L. Lloyd commented in the original album's sleeve notes.
